Safe Placement 101: Why Where You Put Your Safe Matters as Much as Its Rating
A safe's UL rating describes how long it resists an attacker working on the safe. It says nothing about what happens if an attacker simply takes the whole safe somewhere private and works on it there — which is exactly what an unbolted, easily-moved safe invites, regardless of how strong its door is.
Bolt it down — this is not optional for a serious rating to mean anything
A safe under roughly 750 lbs that isn't bolted to the floor (or, better, the floor and a wall) can typically be moved by two people with a hand truck. Its UL burglary rating assumes the attack happens on-site, under time pressure; take the whole unit away and the attacker gets unlimited time with no risk of being seen.
